WATCH: Xenophobic violence in South Africa drives mass migrant exodus.

Professor Jo Vearey (Co-Director, African Centre for Migration & Society, Wits University) joins DW News to unpack the crisis:

“We are seeing a rise and normalisation of xenophobic hate speech and scapegoating of foreign nationals, especially undocumented foreign nationals, coupled with vigilante groups using the language that foreign nationals are to blame for the government’s failure to provide services and jobs.”
