READ: Anti-immigration marchers hand over demands as experts dispute unemployment crisis claims
Migration experts have disputed claims that foreign nationals are responsible for South Africa’s unemployment crisis.
Professor Loren Landau (African Centre for Migration & Society, WITS) is clear: “We need to shift the discussion away from immigration entirely. South Africa needs a reboot, better economic policies, a renewed public service, a commitment to the constitutional project. Scapegoating immigrants does none of those things.”
